CONFISCATED!

A first-person comedy-horror chase through a British primary school, hand-drawn in rough coloured pencil. The caretaker has confiscated your things. Get all five back and leg it out of the main entrance before he catches you.

Everything on this page may be used in coverage of the game. Download the lot as one zip from the panel, or grab individual files below. Questions, builds and interviews: hello@rustyspoon.co.uk.

Description

Your phone goes off in the middle of Mr Reed's Year 6 lesson. Confiscated. He sends you out with the newsletters and a hall pass, which is your excuse to be in the corridors. Take your phone back from the caretaker's office and the pass stops working. Now the caretaker is hunting you. Four more of your things are locked away around the school: a yo-yo, a handheld game, a skateboard and a toy robot. Get them all back, then get out.

At the end of a corridor he's a grumpy caretaker. Closer in, his face turns into huge eyes, a toothy grin and red anger marks, and then his arms come up to grab you. If he catches you, his head rushes at you out of the dark.

The school is small and 3D; the people in it are flat cut-outs drawn in coloured pencil and crayon. It's funny first, then it isn't.

Features

  • Five items, one exit. Cut the chain on the property cage, find the store key, pick your own route. The quickest way round is up to you.
  • Silly school stuff as weapons. Wind up a clockwork duck to draw him off, spill glue to stick him in place, and mind the wet floor: sprint over a puddle and you're on your back.
  • A very British school. Dinner ladies ("Mind out, love"), hall passes, a chatterbox who won't let you go, a PE coach who drags you into a drill, detention spent clapping board rubbers.
  • Made for replays. Runs are short and a retry takes seconds. Every run is timed to the millisecond with personal bests. Four endings, including a secret one for committed duck enthusiasts.
  • Dark Mode. Escape once and the power goes out: a torch, moonlight through the windows, and his eyes glowing red.
  • The library. A dark bookcase maze with its own creature, a smoky, slit-eyed shadow. Freeze and switch the torch off when it shushes, or it hunts you.
  • Built for streamers. Type your Twitch channel name on the title screen and chat votes on what happens to you: lights out, spill a drink, glue your shoes down, teleport, detention. Viewers' names appear on lockers and desks. No login, no bot.

For creators

Recording and streaming are encouraged. There is no embargo and you keep your ad revenue. The free playtest build on itch.io is the whole game. To turn on chat votes: title screen → Twitch → type your channel name. Want your name on a locker in the school? Email and ask.

Content note: mild horror. A jump scare when caught, a threatening face, flickering lights and a VHS-style glitch during chases. No blood or gore.

About Rusty Spoon Studio

An independent one-person studio in the UK. CONFISCATED! is its first game, made by Lee Grieve. A little rough around the edges, on purpose.

Some art, 3D models, voice lines and music were made with generative AI tools, then selected, edited and placed by the developer. Nothing is generated during play. This is also stated on the Steam page.
